WHAT a day..........
I should be in bed right now, but as crazy as it is, I'm not! This has been a day that I hope is not repeated anytime soon! Let's see if I can recap it play by play...To tell the full story, I'll back up to last Thursday. Adam had been having a cough for a few days, and something told me Thursday morning to give him some Motrin before I sent him off to daycare. Guess it was mothers intuition. That afternoon around 3:30 the daycare called and told me to come get him b/c he was running a fever. So he was automatically out Friday. He was no better Friday and was puny all weekend. We stayed around the house all weekend and nursed on him, trying to get him to eat and feel better in general.
This morning Nathan left for a 2 day fishing trip @ 4am. So I thought I'd see how Adam was doing before making a decision on whether he'd go to daycare today. He slept late (for him) - 'til @ 7:30, and I called Lisa and said that I'd just keep him home w/ me today. Since Hannah had a dr. appt. at 10:40, Lisa told me to just bring him to her house and she'd watch him while I took Hannah for her checkup. We had her appt., and it went great up until the shot! She is weighing 9lb 14oz, and is 22 inches long. Aside from the baby acne she's got, everything is great w/ her. She got her Hep. B shot, and that broke both of our hearts, but she got a bottle right after and all was well in her world again. I talked to the dr. while she was seeing Hannah about Adam and I talked her in to giving me a pres. for some good cough meds for him. She told me that if my gut said something just wasn't "right" to bring him on in b/c he could have an ear infection. So after the appt. we go by the bank and then to Lisa's. When I get there, she said that his fever has started back, and he was still very puny. I decide then to make him an appt. for this afternoon. They didn't have anything but work in's, and told me to be there @ 2:30. I decided to take Adam to get him a bite to eat, and we all went to Burger King. Hannah and I left early to take his presc. and drop it off. We found out that noone has it locally. The pharmacist called all his local stores and even the competitors trying to find it. He told me to go eat and come back, that he'd tell me what he could find out for me. After eating, Adam and Lisa stayed there and enjoyed the "playground" while I went to check on his medicine. The pharm. eventually just placed an order for it and will have it tomorrow. I get back over to BK and tell Adam that we need to head home so he can nap before the dr. appt. and his world flipped upside down. He didn't want to leave, but just in the 15 or so minutes that he played, his hair was soaking wet and his face was beet red. I knew then he needed to go to the dr. We get home and he crashed for about 30 minutes. I got busy making bottles and getting ready for the afternoon craziness. Once he wakes up it's time to head back out the door to take Hannah to Lisa's so I can take Adam to the dr. We get there and find out that he has a sinus infection. We leave there head to the post office, and then to the drug store again. They tell us how long it's going to be, and I decided to take Adam to get his hair cut. The hair cut was accomplished, now we're heading back to the Drug store. After a meltdown over a toy that he wanted (but didn't get) we're off to Lisa's, and then to go eat supper. We get to the restaurant, and Hannah is ready to eat again, Adam is NOT wanting to eat, but show out instead. I finally take him to the bathroom and he's screaming the entire way and drawing the attention of everyone. I just look up and smile at them all. We come back to the table afterward and he is calm for all of 5 minutes. By this time I'm done eating regardless and ready to head home. We get back to Lisa's and he does alright for the remainder of the time. We finally get home around 8pm, and Hannah is wanting to eat and Adam is needing a bath. Of course the phone is ringing in the process and crazy me answers it. Nathan is calling to check on everyone and he talks to Adam. The phone rings again and I get it. During this phone call, Adam proceeds to throw up right at the bathroom on the carpet. So I quickly end that phone call - give Hannah a pacci to hold her until I can come back to her and get Adam finished on his ordeal. Right after that he gets his bath, I bring Hannah to the bathroom so I can watch him while I feed her in her carrier. He gets finished up, so I take her and put her in the crib and get him ready for bed. I still had to make bottles, get her ready for bed and check on him once more. I have learned that single mothers will have multiple jewels in their crowns in Heaven, and I need 6 more arms if there are many more days like today. The Lord knew that I could not handle twins, and I truly believe that all the times I prayed for them that is why he never granted my prayer wish. So here it is 10:55, and I'm finally ready for bed. The next wakeup call will probably come anywhere between 2am and 3am, unless Adam needs me sooner. So on that note I should end this here.
What a day............
